Twenty-two-metre high power poles and a constant, eerie humming noise have been a bugbear for Footscray residents and those in surrounding areas, leading to protests and outcry from locals.
Neither Jemena nor NextDC has formally confirmed that the power pole pause directly caused the supply bottleneck. However, Citigroup analyst Siraj Ahmed confirmed in a client briefing that the trading halt is heavily linked to Jemena’s suspension of the infrastructure project.
The filing discloses that the trading halt was sought specifically because NextDC needs to provide a material update to the market on the impact of a delay to the supply of power at its M3 Melbourne data centre.
