Airservices opens up feedback for Ballina Byron airspace changes

The airport in northern NSW will be moving to controlled airspace with the construction of a “digital tower” next year, which Airservices says is part of its plan to foster “sustainable aviation growth” while modernising airspace at regional airports.

The incident on 9 August saw Virgin Australia flight VA555 from Sydney to Perth, operated by VH-IJQ, abort take-off after Qantas flight QF728 from Sydney to Ayers Rock Airport, operated by VH-XZH, began crossing the runway ahead of it.
