In a speech to the Committee for Economic Development Australia (CEDA) on Thursday, ACCC chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb noted that domestic airfares have increased following the reassertion of the Qantas-Virgin duopoly.
Qantas said the added transparency would vindicate its consistent denial of “slot hoarding” accusations, while Virgin and Bonza have labelled the changes “a step in the right direction”.
A critical rail link between Brisbane and the beaches to its north is now locked in with a total of $5.5 billion secured from the state and federal governments.
