With the final day of the Farnborough International Airshow wrapping up and unless either Airbus or Boeing have a surprise up their respective sleeves the manufacturers not announcing any new orders, Simple Flying looked through the event and how commercially successful it was for the two main aircraft manufacturers.

While Airbus and Boeing are very much planemakers, there are many components on their aircraft that are not produced by them: This includes avionics and, of course, cabin seating. But the aircraft engines also come from external suppliers – and so delays can really impact the final assembly and delivery process.And, well, Airbus’ CEO has disclosed that there are dozens of Airbus jets assembled but waiting for engines.
