Raystech Group Announces Plans for 500MW AI Data Centre Project in South Australia

The Group is bringing together its renewable energy supply chain, project development and energy system capabilities, while exploring collaboration with experienced data centre operators, designers and technical partners.

The identified site offers several key foundations for data centre development, including industrial land, nearby water and fibre infrastructure, potential grid connection pathways identified through preliminary investigations, and surrounding renewable energy resources. Together, these attributes provide a basis for further investigation of an integrated energy and digital infrastructure campus.

Future expansion towards a potential total capacity of approximately 500MW will be evaluated through continued investigations and discussions with the relevant electricity network providers and other stakeholders. This assessment will consider grid capacity, the availability of renewable generation in South Australia and other infrastructure and planning requirements.

Raystech’s energy capabilities provide a foundation for coordinating power supply, renewable generation and energy storage with the campus’s computing requirements. The company aims to combine these strengths with specialist data centre expertise to develop infrastructure that balances reliable performance, cost efficiency and responsible energy and water use.

The proposed campus will be developed in stages. Raystech intends to work constructively with local and state government, network providers and the community throughout planning and development, in accordance with applicable regulations and approval requirements. Community engagement will help the project team understand local priorities and assess potential impacts.

Alongside supporting demand for AI computing infrastructure, the project aims to create local opportunities through construction and operational employment, procurement and supporting services. Raystech also plans to explore collaboration with local education and training institutions to support skills development and pathways into the energy and digital infrastructure sectors.

Raystech says it is continuing discussions with organisations with relevant technical and project-development expertise.
