In the early years of commercial aviation, food and drink were all part of the pageantry of taking a flight. While catering plays less of a role today, it is still an important aspect to many passengers, with some preferring to choose their meals on the fly (quite literally!), while others favor the approach of pre-ordering their dish(es) of choice. A recent policy change at United Airlines has improved the latter move.
