The Whiteman Air Force Base is located south of Knob Noster in Missouri. Named after the 2nd Lieutenant George Whiteman, the base is the current home of the B-2 Spirit Bomber. The base was established in 1942 as Sedalia Glider Base for various activities during World War II. At the end of the war, many operations ceased, and buildings were abandoned. In December 1947, there was almost no activity, and the base was put on hold.
