Network Rail Consulting secures $26 million management contract with Sound Transit

Network Rail Consulting, Inc. (NRC), has been awarded a $26 million, three-year Asset Management Support Services contract by the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority (Sound Transit) to support the enhancement of asset management and maintenance practices across its Link light rail network.

NRC will partner with Sound Transit to strengthen asset management capability and improve the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure as the Link light rail network continues to expand. The scope of services covers multiple engineering disciplines, including:

  • Track and signalling systems.
  • Traction power distribution and overhead catenary systems (OCS).
  • Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA).
  • Light rail vehicles.
  • Telecommunications and data networks.
  • Station building systems, including fire detection, suppression, and emergency ventilation.

NRC brings extensive experience across the United States and globally in advancing asset management maturity for rail clients. With ambitious expansion plans for the Link network, Sound Transit is focused on delivering efficient, reliable, and sustainable maintenance practices that support long-term growth and improved service for riders.

  • Developing and delivering training programs to embed new processes and systems.
  • Establishing competence management frameworks for safety-critical activities.
  • Enhancing reliability management to reduce service disruptions and improve passenger experience.
  • Developing quality assurance and verification processes to strengthen operational performance.

This award builds on NRC’s growing presence in North America, reflecting increasing demand from transit agencies for specialist expertise in asset management and maintenance as rail networks expand and mature.
