Dallas-based Southwest Airlines is quietly equipping its emergency medical kits (EMK) with Narcan, the brand name of naloxone, a medication that reverses an overdose from opioids. For years, the airline had been the only major US carrier without the drug onboard its aircraft, as it is not required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
