Network Rail is working to repair damage to overhead line equipment at Muirhouse, close to Glasgow Central, following a loss of power.
As a result, services between Glasgow Central and Neilston, Newton, Cathcart Circle, Barrhead, Kilmarnock and East Kilbride are currently suspended. All other services, including those operating on the low-level lines, continue to run as normal.
Teams are on site and working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Engineers are assessing the damage, investigating the cause and putting the necessary arrangements in place for repairs to begin. This work is expected to continue until at least 5pm.
Passengers are advised to check with ScotRail for the latest updates on their services and to plan their journeys accordingly.
Ross Moran, route director at Network Rail Scotland, said: “We’re really sorry for the disruption this has caused people trying to travel today. We know how busy these routes are and how much people rely on them, so we understand the impact delays like this can have.
“While the cause of the power loss is still being investigated, our teams are on site working through what needs to be done to get things back up and running. We appreciate people bearing with us while we do that and get services back to normal safely.”
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said: “We’re sorry to customers who have experienced disruption to their journey today as a result of the overhead line fault at Muirhouse.
“Network Rail engineers are working hard to restore power and return services to normal as quickly as possible.
“Customers who have been impacted by the disruption can claim compensation. Just keep hold of your train ticket and claim through the Delay Repay Guarantee on the ScotRail website or app.”
