The area of New York and New Jersey has three major airports within its vicinity, each offering varying levels of connectivity and airline options. This subsequently tends to have a wider impact across the system, particularly affecting the US domestic market. As such, the idea of developing a new (major) airport in the area has been looked at for decades, but has been deemed unfeasible.
