Some airports are known to have a steep approach when landing. This is the path the aircraft follows on approach to landing. It can be for a number of reasons, but mostly because of hills and mountains close to the airport making a gradual descent impossible. High buildings in an urban area close to the approach path would also require a steep approach for landing.
