New on‑train signage set to speed up boarding for TPE customers

TransPennine Express (TPE) customers will soon spot bold new signage on the outside of their trains – part of a fresh move to make boarding clearer and faster.

Several of the operator’s 802 trains have already been upgraded and the roll out will include all fleets.

The new look brings sharper, brighter markers for First Class, bike storage and wheelchair‑accessible doors, designed to be instantly recognisable from the platform.

The rollout is all about making journeys feel easier from the moment customers reach the platform.

Andrew McClements, Customer Experience & Transformation Director, said: “Early reactions suggest the change is already making a difference, with customers finding it easier to work out where to board at a glance. It’s a small upgrade with a big impact, especially at busy stations where seconds count.

“Clear signage makes everything quicker. When people know where to go, boarding is smoother and trains can get away on time. It’s a straightforward fix that really helps.”
