Fire at Glasgow Central Station causes evacuations, train disruptions

A huge fire at a building near Britain’s Glasgow Central Station has caused major disruptions to train services.

The BBC has reported a fire at a vape shop close to Scotland’s busiest station caused the building to partially collapse as flames spread.

Dozens of train services have been cancelled and National Rail said the railway station would be closed until further notice.

Major disruptions were expected until the end of the day on Monday, National Rail said in a post on social media platform X.

No casualties have been reported, the BBC said.

“We were first alerted at 3:46pm on Sunday, 8 March, to reports of a fire affecting the ground floor of a four-storey commercial building,” the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said.

“I am deeply concerned about the fire near Glasgow Central Station tonight and very grateful to all of the emergency services who are responding,” Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney said.
