The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 has been back in the news this week, with the United Parcel Service confirming on Tuesday that it had retired its fleet of MD-11F trijets that had previously served under the UPS Airlines arm. These veteran cargo aircraft had already been grounded for several months, following the crash of one upon departure from Louisville, Kentucky, in November of last year. However, FexEx plans to keep its MD-11s active.
