The community of Wilmington, North Carolina, is about to lose its sole international service from Wilmington International Airport (ILM), which has briefly transported sun-seeking travelers to the beaches of Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic. This comes as Avelo Airlines, an American Ultra-Low-Cost Carrier, looks to close its Wilmington base, seeing the axing of seven routes.
