Commuter chaos on Geelong train line

Further Commuter chaos across the Geelong line, with a number of train services cancelled on Monday morning (22nd December 2025) due to delayed train crew.

Services that didn’t run include:

  • 04:57 South Geelong – Southern Cross
  • 05:33 Southern Cross – South Geelong
  • 07:20 South Geelong – Southern Cross
  • 07:26 Southern Cross – Warrnambool
  • 07:29 Southern Cross – Waurn Ponds
  • 09:01 Waurn Ponds – Southern Cross
  • 10:21 Waurn Ponds – Southern Cross
  • 11:50 Southern Cross – South Geelong
  • 12:19 Warrnambool – Southern Cross
  • 13:30 South Geelong – Southern Cross

V/Line were unable to confirm whether or not further services would be cancelled. This is yet another example of the incredibly poor management of the V/Line network Victorians depend upon to get to work and other locations. Changes in V/Line Management mid 2025 appear to have caused even worse delays.

Perhaps the solution is an electrified service to Geelong handing over the management of the line to Metro Trains or their successor as V/Line simply cannot get the job done. There is a litany of cancelled trains across the V/Line network on a weekly basis with some lines like Bendigo, Warrnambool and Swan Hill affected daily.

Travellers are urged to keep up to date with the latest service changes on the V/Line website or the PTV app.

    1. It look that runs worse then it was before those bongo brains in charge removed the older loco haul train off their working timetable……track problems and broken down VLocity as it can’t handle the rough track!

        1. Mike, don’t put words in people’s mouths or assume they say NO cancellations…..

With fit for purpose rolling stock the risk of cancellation would be LESS….and the one size fits all concept has failed for VLocitys and longer distance trains route need a designated rolling stock designed for that purpose……

  1. Chaos exists again on the Geelong as clone ca not manage the trains. Take a look at how they are using bus replacements. Complete fools.
