New photos from CRL inside Te Waihorotiu Station.
Te Waihorotiu is the name of a new underground train station in Auckland, New Zealand, as part of the City Rail Link project, expected to open in 2026 and become New Zealand’s busiest.
The station’s name is a tribute to the Waihorotiu Stream, a significant waterway that once flowed through the area, and to Horotiu pā. It will have entrances on Victoria and Wellesley Streets and is located in the heart of the city centre.
It is interesting to compare the development of this new station in New Zealand with the recent opening of the new Melbourne Metro Tunnel.

The station itself looks cavernous and open as do the stations on the Metro Tunnel in Melbourne.
