Etihad Airways currently has seven active Airbus A380s. However, two more frames will be operational in 2026, while the tenth aircraft—it has only ever had ten superjumbos—will be used as a spare. Bringing back additional double-deckers means more routes will see the type.

On April 3rd, Emirates reintroduced another Airbus A380 to service. The specific airframe was A6-EDF, which is about 19 years old and nearly double the average age of the carrier’s superjumbos. Its return to service saw an initial round-trip service between Dubai and Cairo. While it was the seventh A380 ever to be built, it was the sixth A380 delivered to the Gulf carrier; those that arrived sooner have since been retired or stored.
