Middle Corridor Multimodal (MCM), the joint venture between the railway companies of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia, now has a new participant: China Railway Container Transport (CRCT), a subsidiary of China Railway.
MCM and the shareholders signed an agreement on the accession of CRCT on 18 November. “This marks a historic milestone for our project: the inclusion of a new strategic partner will significantly increase cargo volumes on the China–Europe route within the framework of the TITR initiative and the ‘One Belt, One Road’ program”, the CEO of MCM wrote on LinkedIn.
The joint venture provides services on a one-stop-shop principle, and aims to pursue a coordinated policy to develop multimodal services on the trans-Eurasian route. It was established in 2023 and started operations in the summer of 2025.
