Darlington has a new, improved signalling system – but Network Rail is warning passengers that journeys between York and Newcastle will face disruption when the system is brought into use.
New signs are to be installed along the surviving parts of the 1825 Stockton-to-Darlington line to inform passengers of the historical significance of the line.
The S&DR200 festival – marking the two hundredth anniversary of the passenger railway journey between Stockton and Dalrington – is to launch with a spectacular open-air event in Bishop Auckland on Saturday 29 March 2025.
