Earlier this year, Latvia’s airBaltic made waves by applying to the US Department of Transportation to operate US flights beyond its already-existing codeshare agreement. It followed Latvia becoming a US Category 1 country per the Federal Aviation Authority safety standards, which is necessary to fly to the US. Speaking at Routes Europe in Aarhus, airBaltic’s Mantas Vrubliauskas, Vice President of Network Development, shed more light on the matter.
