Nvidia invests $1bn in Nokia to power AI-native 5G and 6G networks

Nokia secured a contract to supply Uzbekistan-based operator Perfectum with equipment and software to construct its standalone (SA) 5G network, in line with the operator’s plan to commercially launch Central Asia’s first SA 5G network. 

Nokia reported a 32% plunge in operating profit in Q2 blaming low demand for 5G telecoms equipment.

Data from Dell’Oro Group showed Huawei was the leading telecom equipment vendor by revenue in 2023, but the overall market had contracted 5% year-on-year, snapping five years of consecutive growth.
