Emirates is by far the largest operator of the Airbus A380, with a total of 116 currently in its fleet. From its hub at Dubai International Airport (DXB), the carrier deploys its A380s on both regional services and on long-haul routes to destinations across the world.

On April 3rd, Emirates reintroduced another Airbus A380 to service. The specific airframe was A6-EDF, which is about 19 years old and nearly double the average age of the carrier’s superjumbos. Its return to service saw an initial round-trip service between Dubai and Cairo. While it was the seventh A380 ever to be built, it was the sixth A380 delivered to the Gulf carrier; those that arrived sooner have since been retired or stored.
