Melbourne Demons star midfielder Christian Petracca, the 2021 Norm Smith Medal winner with 198 games since 2014, has nominated the Gold Coast Suns as his preferred trade destination on Thursday following a disappointing 12th-place finish for Melbourne in 2025.
The decision comes after Adelaide Crows withdrew from negotiations due to disagreements over a contract extension, with Petracca seeking a five-year deal at elevated pay.
Melbourne is demanding multiple first-round draft picks or players in return for the 29-year-old, whose move could prompt an exodus at Gold Coast including wingman Bailey Humphrey.
