The first train of Helrom’s new rail service for semi-trailers from Düsseldorf arrived in Zabrze, 18 kilometres west of Katowice, in Poland. The initiative is carried out with LTG Cargo Polska with Amazon being one of the customers.
The service was first announced in July with the (met) expectation of starting in September. Trains will run six times per direction every week. It is Helrom’s first project in Poland, where the company owns the sidings in Zabrze, as Jarosław Makar, Hub Manager at Helrom said on LinkedIn.
The launch of a new connection is a positive sign after Helrom’s past few months of uncertainty. The company filed for preliminary insolvency proceedings this summer after an unsuccessful financing round. Since then, Helrom has been looking for a new owner, which should be found next month.
