The Lockheed P-3 Orion is a quad-engined turboprop aircraft designed and developed for the United States Navy. Introduced in the 1960s, the design is based on the L-188 Electra commercial airframe. The aircraft features a distinctive tail stringer, also called the MAD boom, to detect magnetic anomalies of submarines.
