Senate Unanimously Designates Kirk Remembrance Day as House Vote Divides by Party

The U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan resolution on September 18 designating October 14, Charlie Kirk’s birthday, as a National Day of Remembrance for the slain conservative activist‘s work on free speech and liberty.

In the House, a Republican-led resolution condemning Kirk’s September 10 assassination at Utah Valley University and honoring his legacy passed 310-58 on September 19, with all no votes from Democrats and 38 voting present.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez opposed the measure, condemning the killing but criticising it for ignoring Kirk’s controversial views on civil rights and voter access, while Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Nancy Mace decried the partisan split.
