Boom Supersonic has received official Federal Aviation Administration clearance in a Special Flight Authorization (SFA) to break the sound barrier – deemed Mach 1 or 1 times the speed of sound – with their XB-1 prototype and chase aircraft. For Boom Supersonic, the accomplishment is just one small legal step in many to produce supersonic aircraft.
