All locomotives delivered for Zaragoza–Algeciras rail highway

Rail & Truck, the company in charge of the future rail highway service between Algeciras and Zaragoza, received the last of the seven locomotives it will use. Over the next few months, the remaining wagons will be delivered, aiming for start of operations in 2027.
The first three locomotives were delivered at the beginning of the year, with the last four coming in the past few days, as various Spanish media have mentioned. Rail & Truck is also already in possession of 45 of the 150 wagons it will deploy for the rail highway service between Spain’s largest port in Algeciras and one of its main logistics hubs in Zaragoza.

Rail & Truck was established specifically for this initiative by shipping giant CMA CGM, Ecorail, and Marcotran. Big shipping companies seem to be very interested in rail highway services in Spain. Other than the upcoming Zaragoza-Algeciras route, there already is a similar initiative to move semi-trailers on rail between Valencia and Madrid led by MSC. Over the past few months, the Spanish government has been pushing for more rail highway routes, both domestic and international.
