CEO who stole cap from child at the US Open Tennis apologises

Piotr Szczerek has apologised for stealing Kamil Majchrzak’s cap from the young fan it was intended for at the US Open. Footage of the Polish CEO ripping the cap out of the boy’s hand went viral over the weekend, as did tone-deaf statements attributed to Szczerek that he says were fake.

The man who stole a hat from a kid at the U.S. Open has finally released a statement.

Earlier in August, a video went viral of a man snatching a tennis player’s hat out of a young fan’s hands. The man, who has since been identified as a Polish CEO, snatched an autographed hat from men’s tennis player Kamil Majchrzak out of a young fan’s hands. The man, identified as Piotr Szczerek, the head of paving stone company Drogbruk, has finally released a statement.

“I would like to unequivocally apologize to the boy who was harmed, his family, as well as all the fans and the player himself,” Szczerek wrote on Instagram. “I made a serious mistake.”

This guy’s firm has lost millions of dollars because of this bonehead behaviour at the US Open.
