Trump Fires Fed Governor Lisa Cook in Fraud Controversy

President Donald Trump fired Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook on Monday, citing allegations of mortgage fraud, in a move that marks the first time a sitting president has removed a Fed governor in its 111-year history.

Appointed by Joe Biden in 2022 as the first Black woman on the board, Cook plans to challenge the dismissal legally, amid concerns over Fed independence and immediate market reactions, including a plunging U.S. dollar and stock dips.
