Why American Airlines Is Getting Rid Of International First Class

American Airlines is the only US-based airline to offer international first-class fares. However, it announced three years ago it would get rid of them and is currently phasing them out. But why? Given howthe global aviation industry has moved against first class seating, perhaps a better question is why American has held onto first class for as long as it has.
