Earlier this week, a Delta Air Lines Boeing 757-200 flying fromNew York JFK Airport to San Francisco International had to make an unplanned stop in Ohio due to a medical emergency. There were 135 passengers and six crew members onboard, and, while this, at face value, is not unheard of, the emergency in question was more unusual, in that a passenger had gone into labor during the flight.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has certified a new A350-900 engine variant. The aircraft type, which exclusively uses the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84, now has an Enhanced Performance (EP) variant. Airbus states that this Enhanced Performance capability is set to deliver one percent lower fuel consumption, which will provide airlines with a reduction in operating costs and emissions.
