United Airlines is a major United States-based airline headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The airline was first formed in the late 1920s after several popular airlines, such as Varney Air Lines, merged. This makes United Airlines the oldest commercial airline in the US. Since then, United Airlines has ranked among the largest airlines in the world, ranking as the top airline in the world in available seat miles (ASM) in 2024, listing over 311 billion ASMs.
