The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) has criticized the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) failure to sufficiently resolve its oversight of SkyWest’s maintenance practices. A DOT audit of the FAA’s oversight found “key gaps in oversight” in a number of areas, with the DOT issuing seven recommendations for the FAA to implement.
