Central to the operation is a small, highly specialised team made up of Australia’s 114 Mobile Control and Reporting Unit and the US 552nd Air Control Wing, working together in real time to coordinate air operations across the battlespace.
Granted under round two of the Growing Regions Program, the Federal Government funding will allow the airport to modernise its runway lighting and electrical systems, as well as build a new operations office to house critical operational infrastructure.
A newly constructed double lane which opened on Tuesday will now host rideshare vehicles, taxis and SkyBuses. The new transport area comes ahead of the start of construction of Hobart’s upgraded terminal, which is expected to double its size.
