Helrom, a German company specialising in rail transport of semi-trailers will implement a new connection between Katowice, in southwestern Poland, with Düsseldorf, in western Germany. The service is expected to be launched in September and will run six times per week in both directions, Helrom’s Director of Sales Bruno Weissmann said on LinkedIn.
One of the highlights of this announcement is that “both terminal handling and rail transport will be operated in-house”, as Weissmann specified. This will be Helrom’s first service in Poland, making it the fifth country in the company’s network.
Helrom’s technology allows for the rail transport of semi-trailers without the need for additional infrastructure to carry out transshipment operations thanks to the horizontal loading technique. One of the company’s main services is on behalf of Audi, linking the German sites in Neckarsulm and Ingolstadt with the Hungarian one in Gyor. Moreover, at the end of May, it secured almost 33 million euros to finance the purchase of 120 Helrom wagons.
