In a move that has been some three years in the making, Oman Air has officially joined the oneworld alliance to become the group’s 15th member. The Omani flag carrier’s entry into the conglomerate unlocks a key Middle Eastern hub in the form of Muscat International Airport (MCT), opening up new connectivity opportunities for passengers traveling both to and from Oman and on connecting itineraries.

While Boeing 747 aircraft in passenger service are somewhat few and far between these days, examples of the older 747-200 variant are even more so.One particularly interesting example active in recent years has been a testbed plane belonging to Rolls-Royce. The British engine manufacturer had a 45-year-old 747-200B on its books used to test turbofans on flights out of Tucson in Arizona.
