In May 2025, Qatar Airways inked a historic $96 billion contract with Boeing to order 210 widebody jets (including 50 options). These include 130 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 30 Boeing 777-9s (the stretched variant of the upcoming Boeing 777X). The Boeing 787 Dreamliner comes with the choice of two engines, the General Electric GEnx or Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 high-bypass turbofans, while the upcoming Boeing 777X will be exclusively powered by the General Electric GE9X.
