And then there were two… Airline manufacturers – like Fokker, British Aerospace, and Bombardier – have largely exited the commercial jet airliner market, leaving Boeing and Airbus as a duopoly. Boeing and Airbus are roughly balanced in many ways, but the woes Boeing is having with its once-touted Boeing 737 MAX are enabling Airbus to win over some long-time Boeing customers. Japan Airlines and Korean Air have placed large orders for Airbus's airliners, largely shunning Boeing.
