While the commercial aircraft industry is dominated by the Boeing and Airbus duopoly, the widebody commercial engine market is dominated by the Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace duopoly. Airbus’ flagship, the Airbus A350, is exclusively powered by the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB and Boeing’s upcoming flagship, the 777X, is set to be exclusively powered by the GE9X.
