Currently, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is one of the largest and busiest airports in the world. However, it is expected to shut down in the next ten years as operations move to a new airport now under construction. Dubai’s new airport, Al Maktoum International Airport, alternatively called Dubai World Central, is set to break the world record for passenger capacity. It is expected to take over from Dubai International in 2034 after Phase 1 concludes, and then grow to a yearly capacity of 260 passengers after later construction phases.
