On the morning of June 12, an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed shortly following takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport (AMD). The jet was bound for London Gatwick Airport (LGW) when it struck a medical college dining facility and killed at least five medical students on the ground. 241 of the passengers onboard the jet were killed as a result of the crash, with Vishwashkumar Ramesh emerging as a lone survivor.
