First class air travel has been on the decline over the past decade, with many carriers choosing to focus on their business class and premium economy cabins instead. Scores of major airlines have either scrapped or drastically reduced their first class offerings, believing that the cabin ultimately does not represent a good business investment. The data does appear to back this up, with first class cabin costing airlines up to three times more to operate compared to a business product.
