The Alraigo Incident: When A Lost British Harrier Landed On A Cargo Ship

Perhaps no Cold War-era Royal Navy carrier aircraft is as famous as the Sea Harrier. The venerable Sea Harriers were famous for their vertical take and landing capabilities – allowing the aircraft to take off and land without a runway. Sea Harriers operated by the Royal Navy Invinciple-class aircraft carriers played a central role in the 1982 Falklands War. Harriers are famous for their ability to hover and takeoff and land vertically. What is less well known is when a British Sea Harrier landed on a cargo ship, Alraigo, after getting lost.
