The Regia Aeronautica (or Royal Italian Air Force) is overshadowed by the much larger British RAF, German Luftwaffe, and later the US Army Air Force (rarely listed in the iconic fighters that defined World War Two). Still, Italian aircraft design is one of the most overlooked stories of World War Two.
