The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird is a retired long-range reconnaissance aircraft designed and manufactured by the Lockheed Corporation. During the 1960s, SR-71 was designed as a black project by Lockheed's Skunk Works division, and the aircraft performed its first flight in December 1964, entering service in January 1966.
