DoT adds security requirements for satellite broadband players

International operator Orange Africa and Middle East (OMEA) and satellite operator Eutelsat have announced a strategic partnership to bridge the digital divide through satellite connectivity in Africa and the Middle East.

Samoa’s Office of the Regulator (OOTR) has reportedly placed a temporary ban on imports of Starlink kits until SpaceX’s application for a licence to offer LEO satellite broadband services to consumers in Samoa is approved.

Satellite services provider Q-KON has expanded its partnership with Eutelsat OneWeb to deliver connectivity through what it calls Smart LEO networks, tailored to reach remote locations in sub-Saharan Africa.
