While British Airways in its current form only dates from 1974, the airline claims to trace its roots back to 1919, which is only 16 short years after the first Wright Flyer flight. One of its most iconic heritages is the Speedbird logo and callsign that it inherited from one of its predecessors’ predecessors. Famously, British Airways international flights have the callsign ‘Speedbird,’ while domestic flights have the callsign ‘Shuttle.’
